Criminal Law
If you are facing criminal charges, seek legal advice as soon as possible.
Do not participate in a police interview. Instead say “I want to speak to a lawyer”.
CJH Legal can assist with simple (summary) criminal offences that are heard in the Magistrates Court.
Simple offences are minor offences that cannot be dealt with in the higher courts. A simple offence is any offence that is not described as a crime.
Simple offences don’t usually include violations with a maximum penalty higher than three years imprisonment.
All simple offences are dealt with in the Magistrates Court and remain in the Magistrates Court for the entirety of the proceedings. Simple offences are prosecuted by the Western Australia Police.
Some examples of simple offences include:
- assault
- stealing
- disorderly conduct
- criminal damage
- traffic offences
- DUI and drink driving charges
- possession of a prohibited drug
- burglary
- firearm matters
- fraud
In addition to the above, we can also assist with representation for your:
- criminal injury compensation claim
- EDL application (extraordinary driver’s licence)
